Chocolay Township Preparation for Curbside Recycling

Call Great American Disposal at 475-5260 or the Chocolay Township Office at 249-1448.

The quality of material is critical to the success of this program. PLEASE observe the following instructions and separate materials.

PLEASE NOTE: Recyclables are picked up all year long and are not affected by weight restrictions.

Please only tag your garbage, not your recyclables. You will use one tag per bag of garbage.

The following recyclables: Magazines & glossy flyers, newspapers, aluminum or metal cans must be separated and can be put in grocery bags(preferred), clear plastic bag, milk type crates, laundry baskets, corrugated cardboard boxes.

MAGAZINES, GLOSSY FLYERS & PHONE BOOKS (Please separate glossy material from newspaper and put in separate bag)

NEWSPAPERS, PAPER AND SHREDDED PAPER

RECYCLING GLASS Due to a collapse of the recycling markets in general and the glass market in particular, Great American Disposal will no longer acccept glass in any form as a recycling product. We hope for a market turn-around and will advise you as soon as possible as to when glass will become an acceptable recycling category.

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD Flatten, bundle, tie (no larger than 3' x 3' size) and put out at curbside. Large volumes can be dropped off at the Township office recycling container or call the Township for special pick up. All other types of cardboard are not accepted.

ENGINE WASTE OIL Will ONLY accept waste oil in #2 plastic gallon container (clear milk jug); NO cooking oil or ANTIFREEZE. For details contact the Marquette County Solid Waste Authority at 249-4125 or go to their website at http://www.mcswma.comm

ALUMINUM OR METAL CANS PLEASE rinse cans. They can be crushed if you prefer.

PLASTICS Any #1 or #2 plastics can be recylced. PLEASE rinse containers. Rings and caps are not recycled. PLEASE remove and place in garbage.

IMPORTANT NOTES: Non-recyclable materials or material not prepared properly will not be picked up.
