Partial Lifting Seasonal Weight Restrictions
Beginning 8:00 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, weight restrictions will be lifted on all roads south of US 41 and M-28 and east of M-95, including all of Chocolay and Marquette Townships.  Weight restrictions will continue to apply and will be enforced on all other county roads and streets until further notice.

Gentz Sod Farm Now Open

The Gentz Sod Farm, which provides a site at no cost for Chocolay Township residents to dispose of grass clippings, leaves and pine needles, is now open.

The site is located at 264 Old Little Lake Road. It is the first driveway on the right after County Road 480. The site is marked with signs. It is open during daylight hours.

Brush Collection

Due to the new fire station construction, we will not be holding brush collection at the Township Hall.  Residents will be able to drop off brush and leaves at the Marquette County Landfill free of charge from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Direct Hauling to County Landfill
Chocolay Township residents can haul items to the Marquette County Landfill by stopping at the Township to complete a Hauler's Agreement. A $10.00 monthly user fee will be charged along with a deposit ($40.00 per ton). Direct hauling can be a considerable savings to Chocolay residents. Call 249-1448 for more information. Credit or debit cards not accepted.

Metal Drop-Off at Marquette County Landfill
Residents can drop off metal items free at the Marquette County Landfill located on County Road 480. The Landfill is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Stop at the Landfill office for directions when you enter the Landfill area, they will direct you where to drop it off. No other material can be attached to the metal (example: tires or seat on a bicycle).

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Household hazardous waste collection is available at the Marquette Service Center, located at 850 Baraga, beginning in May and ending in October. Hours are 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Holiday Refuse / Recycling Collection Schedule
Refuse collection in Chocolay is Wednesday and Thursday. Trash must be set out by 7:00 AM. If a holiday lands on your collection day, please call the Township Office for the holiday pick-up schedule.

Computer Donations
Goodwill in Marquette is accepting computers of any brand and computer equipment at no charge. Residents must remove the data from their hard drives and other storage media before making the donation. Neither Dell or Goodwill takes responsibility for that data. Purchasing Garbage Tags
One tag is required for each bag set out for collection. Cost is $8.00 for a card of five tags. Tags can be purchased at the following businesses: Citgo Station (Harvey), Chocolay Township Office, Holiday Gas Station (Harvey), Jack's Superserv, Kassel's Korner, Marquette Community Federal Credit Union (Harvey), Shaw's Service Station, and Snyder Drug Store (Harvey)
