The Chocolay Township Planning Director plays a multi-faceted role in supporting beneficial development of the
Township that is consistent with community goals. Tasks include:
The Planning Director also serves as technical assistant to the Chocolay Township Planning Commission. The Planning Commission generally meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Township Hall. The Zoning Administrator is the principal person charged with the responsibility for administering and enforcing
the zoning ordinance. In Chocolay Township, the Zoning Administrator also enforces the
Nuisance Ordinance #37A and the
Vehicle Parking and Storage Ordinance #55.
The Zoning Administrator assists citizens in understanding regulations and filling out applications, performs inspections, issues permits, and issues violation notices. The Zoning Administrator evaluates and establishes guidelines for improving department procedures. The Zoning Administrator also serves as technical assistant to the Zoning Board of Appeals. The Zoning Board of Appeals generally meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 PM at the Township Hall, but only when there are pending applications or requests under consideration.
