CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP BECOMES PASSPORT SERVICE OFFICE
The Township has taken on a new service to the public. With upcoming federal requirements that passports are necessary to enter Canada and Mexico it will bring up the numbers of people requiring the service.
Passports are processed out of the Bureau of Consular Affairs in Chicago, Illinois. Local offices offering the service prepare the required forms, collect the fees, and take the passport pictures. Fees are set up by the BCA Office.
Persons intending to secure a passport need to gather their proofs of citizenship, identification, pictures (which can be taken at the office), and complete the application form. Fees are paid at the Township Office. Persons requiring an expedited passport can pay a special fee and the Township will ship it by overnight service. A form with basic document requirements is available at the Chocolay Township Office. All applicants for passports must appear in person. All persons must have a picture meeting BCA requirements included.
Those persons requiring the service from any location may use the service here in Chocolay. The Passport Service Office will be open from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number at the office is 249-1448.
CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP LICENSE PLATES
They are only $5.00. That's right the Township has ordered something you will want. IT'S A FRONT LICENSE PLATE. I'll say it again it is only $5.00. That I know is less than your back plate.
The license plate is decorated with the CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CHOCOLAY design. The same design that's on the entrance signs to the Township. The same design that's on our stationery and the same design that is on some of our vehicles. Now it can be on your vehicles.
