Farm Incubator Project meeting
Chocolay Township held the first community meeting to gain input on the proposed Farm Incubator project. The group discussed key factors for success relating to the site, production of organic vegetables, marketing and distribution, management, education & training, and potential participants....
Beginning 8:00 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, weight restrictions will be lifted on all roads south of US 41 and M-28 and east of M-95, including all of Chocolay and Marquette Townships. Weight restrictions will continue to apply and will be enforced on all other county roads and streets until further notice.

Summer Office Hours
The Chocolay Township office will begin summer hours on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.
Summer hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Summer hours run from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

MSU Extension Firewise Program

Gentz Sod Farm Now Open
The Gentz Sod Farm, which provides a site at no cost for Chocolay Township residents to dispose of grass clippings, leaves and pine needles, is now open.
The site is located at 264 Old Little Lake Road. It is the first driveway on the right after County Road 480. The site is marked with signs. It is open during daylight hours.

Due to the new fire station construction, we will not be holding brush collection at the Township Hall.Residents will be able to drop off brush and leaves at the Marquette County Landfill free of charge from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

As a reminder from our garbage contractor, please remember that garbage bags cannot weigh over 30 lbs. If the contractor determines that the bag is overweight, it will be tagged with a notice and will be left at the curb.

Cardboard Recycling at the Township is closed
Due to the new fire station construction, the cardboard recycling at the Township Hall is closed until further notice for safety reasons. Residents can still use the curbside recycling program every other week (please see the recycling schedule). Commercial users can haul their cardboard to the Marquette County Landfill free of charge.

Curbside recycle pickup during road weight restrictions
Recycling will still be picked up at curbside during the road weight restrictions that are now in effect. A second collection truck will pick up the recycled materials that remain after your trash has been collected.
Regular collection procedures will resume after weight restrictions are lifted.
