Notice is hereby given that Chocolay Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a conditional use application for a wireless communication tower on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chocolay Township Hall at 5010 US-41 South, Marquette, MI.

Request for Proposals

Chocolay Township is seeking proposals from qualified firms for an upgrade to the Lion's Field Ball Field Fence.  The field is located at the intersection of M-28 East and Hiawatha Street, Marquette, MI  49855. 

Bid packets including the scope of work and project requirements can be obtained from Chocolay Township, 5010 US 41 South, Marquette, MI 49855, or by calling 906-249-1448.  Additionally, the bid packet can be found here, or under the Fencing Bid Packet link.

Sealed proposals will be received until 3:00 PM EST, Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Township office.

The Township reserves the right to reject or accept any or all proposals.

Chocolay Senior Center Outing

The Chocolay Senior Drop In Center has been enjoying many activities since start up last winter.  See here for their most recent outing.

The hours for the Senior Drop In Center are Tuesday and Thursday from 1 - 4 PM at the Chocolay Township Hall.  Everyone 60 and older is encouraged to attend and see what they have to offer.  This is where the planning for these outings takes place!!!

US 41 Repaving Project

Michigan Department of Transportation's Priority Roads Improvement Program, funded at $115,000,000 State-wide for 2014, will pay for a resurfacing project in Chocolay Township that is set to begin on Friday, September 12th.  Traffic lanes on US 41 South between Big Creek Bridge and Juliet Street will be milled and repaved over the next two weeks.  The project will also include the addition of center and shoulder rumble strips and new pavement markings along the 2.8 mile project.  The estimated completion date is September 29, 2014.

Chocolay Senior Drop In Center
The Chocolay Senior Drop In Center will be resuming their regular hours beginning Tuesday, September 9. The hours will be Tuesday and Thursday, 1:00 - 4:00 PM. All Seniors are encouraged to attend.

Summer Tax Bills

Summer Tax bills have been mailed out, and are due Monday, September 15.  Beginning September 16, a 1% interest will be added each month tax payments are delinquent.

Wood Chips Now Available
Wood chips are now available at the Township Office free of charge.  They are available on a first come, first serve basis - haul your own.

Gentz Sod Farm Now Open
The Gentz Sod Farm, located at 264 Little Lake Road, is now open for the season.  As a convenience to the residents of Chocolay Township, they provide a side at NO COST for disposal of grass clippings, leaves, and pine needles ONLY. 

Please be considerate of the service that is offered to Chocolay Township residents and only dispose of the proper materials.

Garbage Pick up

Beginning Wednesday, March 5, the garbage contractor will be enforcing the 30 pound / 32 gallon limit on garbage bags.  Anything over these limits will NOT be picked up.

Cardboard Recycling

Cardboard recycling is once again open at the Township Hall.  In addition to the dumpsters at the Township, you are still able to recycle your cardboard curbside on the fiber weeks, or haul directly to the landfill free of charge.
